BCom alumnus vying to become Canada’s next Impact Apprentice
When he first came to Carleton in 2005 to study commerce, Jonathan Dawe said he wanted to become a highly successful businessman “like Donald Trump”. Now, Dawe is vying to become Canada’s next Impact Apprentice, a Trump-inspired competition that pits 48 of Canada’s top post-secondary students against each other in a number of unique real-life business challenges.
Dawe just graduated from the Bachelor of Commerce program with high honours and a concentration in accounting. He is hoping to be chosen as one of the finalists who will compete in Toronto in August for prizes, lucrative jobs and the title of Canada’s next upcoming business superstar. Finalists are determined by the public.
He is currently working on obtaining his accounting certification, hoping to have all of his qualifications and exams completed by spring 2012.
A resident of Gloucester, Dawe was awarded $36,000 in entrance scholarships from Carleton in 2005, including the prestigious Chancellors scholarship. Throughout his years at Carleton, he was an active volunteer on campus, serving as the academic director of the Sprott Business Students Society, a note-taker for the Paul Menton Centre for Students with Disabilities, and vice-president of programming for the Rideau River Residence Association.
