Marin argues that the Bretton Woods system disadvantaged the U.S., enabling trade imbalances while the U.S. bore global defense costs. Additionally, an overvalued dollar eroded American manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response, the U.S. is using tariffs, currency manipulation and national security concerns to open foreign markets, enforce defense burden-sharing, and incentivize domestic manufacturing.
