BUSI 3117: From Buckets to Rainbarrels: Developing Creative Thinking

This course focuses on a project where interdisciplinary teams composed of civil engineering, systems engineering, industrial design and business students will be working together on proposals to address the problem of sustainable water harvesting and other issues in northern Tanzania.

The course will involve a two-week trip to the Longido Region of Tanzania during the last week of December and first week of January. There will be some cost involved. Students should plan on up to $1300 related to travel costs, but the actual amount will depend on the success of fundraising activities.

Registration for this course is for Winter term, but given the nature of the project there will be required preparatory activities during Fall term. These activities may include problem research, possible fundraising activities, and cultural sensitivity workshops. All BUSI 3117 students are required to enroll in a weekly lab in the Fall term (this lab does not impact your maximum course load).

If you would like to learn more about the student experience in this course, students from the 2017 and 2018 cohort would be happy to answer your questions. Please contact: Jessica Rutley, Cassie Lee, Seana Biggs or Cameron Moore.
