Biography

Isaac Otchere, Professor of Finance, is an expert in valuation and mergers and acquisitions. He holds a Masters degree from Carleton University and a PhD. from the University of Tasmania (Australia). Prior to joining Carleton, he taught at the University of Melbourne and the University of New Brunswick. Isaac has extensive international experience, having taught numerous finance courses at the undergraduate, MBA and PhD levels in Canada, Australia, Singapore, Ukraine, and South Africa, among others.

Isaac’s research interest resides broadly in Empirical Finance, and specifically in Mergers and Acquisitions, Privatization, Banking, and Corporate Governance. He has published extensively in reputable finance journals such as the Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Banking and Finance, Empirical Finance, among others.

He has industry and consulting experience and has done some contract assignments for the World Bank and the African Institute. This wealth of experience enables him to share his unique perspectives with his students. Isaac is an active researcher, and his work has been recognized nationally and internationally. He has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching and research.
