Biography
Aaron L. Nsakanda is an Associate Professor of Management Science and Operations Management at the Sprott School of Business. He received a Ph.D. degree in Logistic and Manufacturing Management from Laval University as well as an MBA in Operations Management.
Before joining Carleton University in July 2001, Aaron Nsakanda worked as a Senior Operations Research Consultant in the airline industry. He worked extensively in joint development projects involving partners from Canada, USA, and Germany. As part of his industry experience, Dr. Nsakanda authored or co-authored seven confidential reports and documents on the application of management science techniques to a wide range of practical problems in the airline industry, such as cargo operations, airport resources management, manpower planning and scheduling, and reward loyalty program management. His works on this latter topic were extensively used in the redesigning of Aeroplan, one of Canada’s longest standing loyalty reward programs.
More recently, Aaron has worked for Nav Canada to develop a simulation-based methodology for determining the appropriate staffing level required at its Flight Information Centers located across the country. He has also worked in the area of modeling advanced manufacturing systems. He is a member of the following professional societies: The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), The Canadian Operational Research Society (CORS), the Society for Computer Simulation (SCS), and Decision Sciences Institute (DSI).
