Introduce yourself! Tell us a little bit about your goals and interests:
I’m a third year Sprott student with a passion for travel, history, and languages! I immigrated to Canada from Germany when I was very young, and I am looking forward to going back for the first time since I left and sharing my experiences with everyone! As well as going to Germany, I will be travelling through most of Europe! I can’t wait to immerse myself in the different cultures I will encounter in my future travels, and experience all the historical attractions, as well as life as a local!
Why did you choose your language?
I chose to study German because I spent my early years of life growing up in Germany with their culture and lifestyle. I spoke the language when I was younger but lost it when I moved to Canada, and I thought that learning German would be an amazing way to reconnect with the lifestyle that I once lived!
Have you ever travelled overseas before? If so, where?
Since I immigrated to Canada when I was only young, most of my family is overseas. Because of this, I am fortunate to have experienced the joys of travelling from a very young age, as my family is spread around the world. I have been to England many times, as well as Scotland. I have also been to Italy and France as well as Greece and Turkey when I was much younger. In recent years I have expanded my travels to parts of the USA and some Caribbean islands such as Cuba, Antigua and St Lucia!
What 3 things MUST you take with you while abroad?
The first thing would be my camera, to document my travels and to capture precious moments, both good and bad! The second thing would be my iPod, because I feel that all new experiences require a soundtrack to remember them by. The third thing I must take is a decent pair of shoes, since you never know where your feet will take you.
What are you most looking forward to?
I am looking forward to travelling throughout Europe and experiencing life abroad with my fellow BIB friends, far away from the comforts of home. I am also very excited to meet new people and make new friends!
