Sprosh – Board of Directors

Board of Directors are integral to the successful delivery of the Sprosh orientation week. Board of Directors are responsible for execution of designated tasks as assigned, maintaining a positive and energizing morale, and working directly with the Sprosh Coordinator throughout the week.


  • Assist the Sprosh Coordinator with the set up, tear down and delivery of all Orientation Week events and activities
  • Act in a leader and role model for Sprosh volunteers and new students in creating an inclusive and welcoming environment
  • Act as an ambassador for the Sprott School of Business and the Sprosh orientation program
  • Adhere to all Carleton University policies


In addition to the general BoD positions, some BoDs will be assigned designated areas of specialization, including:

  • HYPE SQUAD (6 positions available)
      • Create fun and inclusive activities and challenges for teams to compete in during Sprosh week
  • REGISTRATION (1 position available)
      • Serve as the leader in the setup, delivery, and overall registration process as planned for Saturday August 29th and Sunday August 30th
  • SOCIAL MEDIA (1 position available)
      • Assist the Sprosh Coordinator with the social media campaign throughout the summer, 2-4 hours/week and throughout the entirety of Sprosh week
      • Must be able to author appropriate content cooperatively with the Sprosh Coordinator, and provide own camera and/or video camera for use during Sprosh 2015 week
  • SPONSORSHIP (1 position available)
      • Assist the Sprosh Coordinator with sponsorship outreach, position starting March 14th and continuing through the summer, 2-5 hours/week (residing in Ottawa for the summer months is preferred)
      • Greet and assist sponsors at Sprosh events and encourage student and volunteer involvement with event sponsors
  • ACADEMIC ORIENTATION (1 position available)
  • Serve as a leader in the coordination, communication, and delivery of Sprott’s Academic Orientation Day as planned on Tuesday September 2nd


  • Enrolled as a student in the Sprott School of Business for the fall 2015 academic term
  • In good academic standing as defined in the Carleton University Undergraduate Calendar
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication and group process skills
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Previous experience as a Sprosh volunteer is an absolute
  • Previous experience with special events is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of University and School resources
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Sensitivity to the needs (academic, social and emotional) of all new and returning Carleton University students and staff
  • Must be available for an individual interview the week of February 23 to February 27, 2015
  • Complete and adhere to the Fall Orientation volunteer Charter of Responsibilities
  • Attend the group interview session on Sunday, March 1st, 2015
  • Attend Sprosh Volunteer Session on March 14th, including submitting a Police Record Check
  • Must attend Fall Orientation Volunteer training on August 27th and 28th – ALL sessions are mandatory
  • Be available all hours for the entire week of August 29th through September 6th inclusive, for Sprosh 2015 week. No exceptions will be made
