Program Structure – Full-Time

The MAcc program is designed to be completed on a full-time basis over 16 months as follows:

Summer

ACCT 5120 Advanced Concepts I 0.5 credit
ACCT 5121 Advanced Concepts II 0.5 credit
ACCT 5123 Advanced Taxation 0.5 credit
ACCT 5129 Professional Accounting Cases I 0.25 credit
ACCT 5130 Advanced Finance 0.5 credit

Fall

ACCT 5131 Performance Management [0.5 credit]

The ACCT 5131 Performance Management course is to be offered on-line in the fall term in order to allow students to seek employment in any geographical area.

ACCT 5199 Internship [1.0 credit]

The internship is designed to ensure that students apply the course learning in a practical setting. Students will be expected to prepare an internship report that relates their work experience to course work they have completed in the MAcc program.

Full-time students can apply for an exemption from the internship if they have a minimum of one year of full-time professional accounting experience. Experience will be evaluated and verified by the Sprott School of Business before an exemption will be provided.

ACCT 5199 Internship [1.0 credit]

The internship is designed to ensure that students apply the course learning in a practical setting. Students will be expected to prepare an internship report that relates their work experience to course work they have completed in the MAcc program.

Part-time students who do not qualify for an exemption from the internship will be required to complete their internship (one term) before graduating from the MAcc program. Please note that registering in the Internship course (1.0 credit) will result in a change of status to full-time, as part-time graduate students may not register in more than 1.25 credits per term  (see section 7.9 of the Graduate Calendar Regulations). Students will be required to pay full-time tuition fees for the specified term.
