Full-time students can apply for an exemption from the internship if they have a minimum of one year of full-time professional accounting experience (this can include undergraduate accounting co-op experience). Experience will be evaluated and verified by the Sprott School of Business before an exemption will be provided.
Part-time students who do not qualify for an exemption from the internship will be required to complete their internship (one term) before graduating from the MAcc program. Please note that registering in the Internship course (1.0 credit) will result in a change of status to full-time, as part-time graduate students may not register in more than 1.25 credits per term (see section 7.9 of the Graduate Calendar Regulations). Students will be required to pay full-time tuition fees for the specified term.
The internship is designed to ensure that students apply the course learning in a practical setting. Students will be expected to prepare an internship report that relates their work experience to course work they have completed in the MAcc program.
