Larisa Magnus is a third-year Bachelor of International Business (BIB) student in the French language stream. Larisa is studying at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management in Brussels, Belgium. (All students in the BIB program are required to study abroad for their third year at one of our partner institutions.)Tell us about yourself!I'm from Waterloo, ON. I love music, experiencing new cultures and being outside. I enjoy being active, growing up I played many sports; hockey, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball and rowing. I'm also really drawn to any type of boarding; snowboarding, wakeboarding, paddle boarding and surfing. Some of my goals for my exchange are becoming fluent in French, travel to at least 10 countries, make friends from all over the world, snowboard in the alps and go to three concerts/music festivals. How did you choose your language of study?I chose French because I have been taking it since elementary school and decided it would be best to master French rather than learn a completely new language. Also, since French is an official language of Canada, I think being bilingual is an important asset to have in the business world.Have you travelled before?I was lucky enough to complete my last year and a half of high school with a travelling school, which is when I did most of my travelling. I have been to 14 countries so far; USA, England, France, Switzerland, Germany, Czech Republic, China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia & Fiji. What three things must you pack?My music library, jalapeño cheetos and an open mind. What are you most looking forward to?I'm most looking forward to feeling completely confident in my ability to speak French, meeting new people and making memories that will last a lifetime.
