Doug Church is a founding partner of Phase 5, one of Canada’s leading research and consulting agencies providing innovation, customer and user experience services. He graduated from Carleton University with a BA (Law/Political Science) in 1984, and from Queen’s University with an MBA (Marketing/International Business) in 1989. Doug is also a Certified Marketing Research Professional (CMRP) of the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association.
Doug began his career as a Special Assistant to the Hon. Perrin Beatty, a federal Cabinet Minister in the Mulroney Government. He went on to work at Price Waterhouse, where he spent two years as a Senior Consultant in the strategic management practice.
In 1991, Doug co-founded Phase 5, which now has offices in Ottawa and Toronto serving clients in the government, financial, information, technology, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics and retail sectors throughout North America. Doug has played a lead role in working with organizations such as TD Bank, CIBC, Canada Post, Thomson Reuters, Mitel, the Government of Ontario, the Government of Canada, and the Parliament of Canada to develop and market next-generation online and technology-based products and services. He has also worked closely with a range of start-up technology companies to help position them for success in the marketplace.
Beyond his work, Doug has served on advisory boards and committees with various professional and non-profit organizations, including the Champions for Children Foundation, the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association and the Ottawa Hospital Foundation. Doug met his wife, Sandy, 33 years ago while attending Carleton. They have two children, one of whom is currently attending Sprott.
